Members of Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover and the chief placement officer on Monday. At the meeting, the council members, which included PUCSC president Chandan Rana and general secretary Abha Sharma raised the issue of placements of students after completion of their academic courses. We shared the concern of the students regarding placements with the authorities, and therefore requested that the placement drive should be held twice in an academic session,in January and April. This will give the students an adequate number of opportunities to make a good career choice, Rana said. Other issues raised during the meeting included early completion of Girls Hostel no-9 in the South campus of the university, and the timely release of the pending fellowships of the research scholars. There were soem PhD scholars whose VIVA and interviews were not held even after the submission of their research projects. We have requested that Dean Research should look into the matter at the earliest, he added.
