Says if teachers oppose submission of report to V-C,they will display students remarks on notice boards of departments concerned
Replying to the accusations from the Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) on the credibility of the teachers evaluation conducted by the Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) and rebutting the report, the PUCSC announced that in case there was any opposition from teachers, they would be forced to display the students remarks as well as the concerned teachers name in the list of poor performers on the university notice board of the respective departments.
If there would be any objection from the teachers in submitting the report to the vice-chancellor,which we are hoping to submit by Thursday, the council would be forced to make the students remarks as well as the teacher concerned on the notice boards. We are not in the favour of making the names of those 28 teachers public who have scored negative or termed as the worst teachers by the students, but we would do so in case there would be any opposition from the faculty, said the PUCSC President Amit Bhatia.
As per the teachers evaluation report being formulated by the PUCSU,of the total 7,341 students as respondents, almost 80 per cent blamed the internal politics within the faculty responsible for the deteriorating condition of the university departments. Also,28 teachers have been termed as worst teachers.
The five parameters on which the teachers were evaluated by almost 8,000 students were punctuality, behaviour, concept knowledge, encouragement to students and communication skills. These teachers are from the Department of Law,Geology,Chemical Engineering,Hotel Management, and the University Institute of Engineering and Technology.
