In a relief for Panjab University law student Nitin Jindal, the jury on Friday acquitted him of sexual assault charges levelled by a British national in Boston. The girl had withdrawn the case on April 7. Jindal’s parents said now that he has been exonerated of all charges and proved innocent,Nitin will return within three to four days.

Back home,it is still to be seen whether the special committee constituted to look into the matter would consider his case and allow him to appear in the examination. He was debarred from the university last month.

The case came to light when Jindal,a final year student of University Institute of Legal Studies and one of delegates who had gone to Boston to attend the Harvard National Model United Nations’ Conference in February,by allegedly preparing fake documents, was accused of sexual assault there.
