There was high drama at the Panjab University (PU) campus on Thursday after a professor at the University Business School staged a protest outside the vice-chancellors office citing an undue delay in his promotion. B B Goyal of the University Business School has also submitted a notice in the V-Cs office threatening that he will go on an indefinite hunger if the authorities fail to provide him clarity on his promotion date by April 11. While Vice-Chancellor R C Sobti has refused to comment on the issue,B B Goyal said: The authorities have been showing a reluctance to promote me. All those who had been interviewed along with me in October last year,have been allotted promotion letters,but my promotion decision has been put off till this years next senate meeting scheduled for October. Goyal had reached the V-Cs office along with his wife and daughter. Later,PU registrar A K Bhandari and Dean University Instructions (DUI),B S Brar reached the spot and assured the family that appropriate steps will be taken to resolve the issue.
