Even after several months, the Panjab University has failed to declare the result of certain post-graduate courses including MCom,MCA and MBA and MFA. While the university authorities claim that the results would be declared soon,it is the students who are at the receiving end. While the had university claimed that this year all results would be declared in time,it has been more than four months since examinations have been over. The authorities are still claiming that it would take another week to ten days to declare all the results. The university authorities announced that all the results would be declared by June 30. Such is the laxity of the authorities that it has been more than a month to this announcement and still the results have not not been declared. In such a case, students cannot apply to other courses,if they want to or various competitive examinations. There were several announcements by the officials that the results would be declared soon, but nothing has been done so far, lamented one of the students of M Com second year. The official spokesperson of the university Prof Sudhir Sharma said,The examination department is in the process of preparing the results which would be declared soon. While some results would be declared by Monday others will take around ten days. Though this is not the first time, the results are delayed, some corrective measures should be adopted by the authorities to stop the harassment faced by the students. The officials tried to shirk their responsibilities by putting the blame on lecturers that they fail to mark answersheets leading to delay in the declaration of results. Also,it is said that in some cases, the delay is due to errors in internal marks of the students submitted by the department. The examination centre has asked for the fresh list of internal marks list from departments concerned. No final date for students elections yetThe speculation over Panjab University (PU) students union elections seems to be coming to an end. While the university authorities have said the campus polls would be held in the first week of September, the student parties have been campaigning keeping September 3 as poll date. PU authorities,in a recent communique to the UT Administration, had asked for a final date for polls. The tentative dates given to the Administration were in the first week of September. Dean,Students Welfare,Prof Naval Kishore, said the dates sent to the administration for approval were in the first week of September. It is expected that the Administration would approve one of the dates. The party is taking September 3 as the final date. Even though the basic poll planning has been done already, the final strategies would be chalked out on Monday, said SOPU president Harshvardhan Singh. PUSU,too,is going ahead with its campaigning process taking September 3 as poll date. Though the university authorities would only disclose the final date close to the elections, various parties, through their sources, have learnt that polls are likely to be held on September 3, said PUSU president Udey Singh Wirring. Election mood has gripped the university for a while now with vehicles and walls dotted with poll posters; and campaigners sporting party stickers on their clothes can be seen, too.
