Preparations in full swing for PU’s 3-day science fest

While the brochure for the event has been prepared, the student body is busy sending invitations to various colleges and universities across the region. Registration for the event has begun.

Preparations are on for the three-day Inter-university Science Fest (SCITRON-2014), to be organised by the Panjab University Campus Student Council (PUCSC) from January 22-25.

The fest will begin with a marathon aimed at creating awareness about cancer on January 22. It will be followed by a flash-mob at the Student Centre and competitions including science quiz, singing competition, skit contest, histrionics, declamation and debates, collage making and painting.

The underlying theme of the festival is to promote interest among students about sciences.

Talking to Newsline, PUCSC president Chandan Rana, said, “Science is not a formal logic as it needs the free play of mind. Through this event, we hope to give a platform to young minds from various universities and colleges to interact and discuss new ideas.”

MP Pawan Bansal is slated to be chief guest for the inauguration ceremony.

Various cultural programmes will also form part of the event with performances by a band called The Local Train and a Sufi night on the second day by singer Kanwar Grewal.
