PPSC member Mohi made party to chairman’s case

Indicted for his alleged involvement in “facilitating the selection of desired candidates” for the selection of medical officers,Dr SS Mohi,member of the Punjab Public Service Commission today moved Court seeking permission to be impleaded as party to a petition filed by Sanjit Kumar Sinha,PPSC Chairman.

Tells HC he is ‘necessary party’ to petition

Indicted for his alleged involvement in “facilitating the selection of desired candidates” for the selection of medical officers,Dr SS Mohi,member of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) today moved Court seeking permission to be impleaded as party to a petition filed by Sanjit Kumar Sinha,PPSC Chairman.

Sinha had moved the High Court seeking a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the selection of medical officers in 2009.

A division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court allowed the application moved by Mohi.

All members of PPSC,who have been indicted by Punjab Vigilance Bureau in the PPSC scam,now stand arayed as parties to the petition filed by Sinha.

On the other hand,K P S Gill,former DGP,Punjab had also filed a petition seeking directions to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau to expedite the investigation that was handed over to investigating agency.

In his application,Mohi has submitted that “the Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC),SK Sinha cannot be treated as Commission and therefore the necessity to hear the members of the Commission who constitute the Commission. He (Mohi) is likely to be affected by the proceedings before this Court in the present case”.

Mohi further submitted that he is a necessary party to the petition. The division bench accepted the request made by Mohi and allowed him to array as party to the petition.

The Indian Express was the first to report that for the first time in the country all members of a Public Service Commission were indicted for making illegal selections.

The four other PPSC members indicted and arrayed as parties to the petition are Anil Sarin,DS Mahal,Brig (Retd) DS Grewal and Ravinder Kaur. The case will come up for resumed hearing in May.
