Yeh pyaas hai badi

After UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi left Ambala,Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his retinue went to the local tourist resort,Kingfisher. The CM there asked for lassi and then disdainfully refused its packed flavoured versions. He wanted only the authentic home-made variety. Local MLA Nirmal Singh was quick to spot the hotel staff’s quandary and rushed to his home. He returned with a plastic bottle filled with lassi and personally served it to Hooda. After gulping it to his heart’s content, the Chief Minister was heard saying in a Ted Roosevelt fashion,“Good to the last drop.”

Dancing Sidhu

It took some time in coming, but our fancy MP from Amritsar has finally come out with his Sidhuism of the season. Addressing a rally recently,he said,“I was able to do so much for Amritsar even though we did not have a favourable government at the Centre. Just imagine the possibilities if I am elected as an MP from Amritsar and LK Advani becomes the Prime Minister. If voters ensure this, then the possibilities are spectacular. I am reminiscent of an old Vaijyantimala song- ‘Mere pairon mein ghungroo bandha de,to phir meri chaal dekhle’.”

Animal farm

Even as the election fear grips Majha region, dozens of villages around Kathlore wildlife sanctuary in Gurdaspur district are facing a new problem. Hordes of wild boars are attacking the crops at night. Villagers complain that their standing crops of millet, corn and wheat have been destroyed by boars. They now say that they would actually vote only for the candidate which provides them relief from this menace. Messers Khanna and Bajwa should better take notice and remember that monkey trouble did become a political issue in neighbouring Himachal

One-2-One

On Thursday morning, passengers on the New Delhi-bound Shatabdi were being greeted by a dapper of a man. He was handing them his visiting card and requesting them to vote for him. This has been the modus operandi of Ajay Goyal,a investor and financier, who is contesting from Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat as an Independent. Goyal, who says that his business is spread in 10 different countries, claims that his one-to-one approach is proving successful. He says that he travels 10 km daily on foot and has so far distributed over 25,000 visiting cards. “I have now ordered a fresh lot of 50,000 cards.”
