Pinjore woman dies of swine flu

A 45-year-old woman from Pinjore died of swine flu at PGI on Friday while eleven persons,including a PGI doctor,tested positive for the disease.

A 45-year-old woman from Pinjore died of swine flu at PGI on Friday while eleven persons,including a PGI doctor,tested positive for the disease.

Of the eleven cases,three are from Chandigarh,three from Panchkula and the remaining from Punjab. Four of the victims are admitted in GMCH 32,one at GH-16 and five at PGIMER.

The deceased,identified as Kamlesh,a resident of Mahadevpura colony in Rampur Saeuri village,was admitted in PGI a few days ago. She was initially admitted in the Panchkula General Hospital for a kidney problem but was referred to the PGI after she showed symptoms of swine flu.

Panchkula District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Jagmal Singh said Kamlesh was working as a domestic help at several houses and health officials have distributed Tamiflu to all the people she came in contact with.

Results of five samples are awaited at PGI and are expected to come in on Saturday.
