As part of the ongoing Campaign for Peace-city Chandigarh,NGO Yuvsatta and Peace Club of KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School presented the annual peace awards on Wednesday.
Asha Hooda,chairperson,Indian Council of Social Welfare,Haryana,was the chief guest on the occasion while Rani Sharma,chairperson,Indian Council of Social Welfare,Chandigarh,presided over the function.
Hooda conferred Dr K B S Dhillon Memorial Shantidoot Puraskar on Dr Priti Garg,a lecturer at the Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 10,who is working to strengthen and spread Gandhian values among the youngsters. The Kailash Bahl Memorial Peace Award went to Dr Surendra Singh,principal,Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 33. Three other teachers Rajni Thareja,director of The Gurukul School,Sarbjit Kaur,Peace Club in-charge of AKSIPS,Sector 41,and Anuradha,coordinator of KB DAV-7,were honoured too.
Appreciating the concept of peace clubs,Hooda said: A child has to be educated with love and kindness to become a responsible adult in future and these clubs can play a very pivotal role in this direction.
