Patiala storms into final

Brilliant spell by left-arm spinner Amaninder (4/37) helped Patiala bundle out Amritsar at 157 in 79.5 overs in reply to Patiala's target of 338 and record comprehensive win in the semi-final of Dhruv Pandove Trophy for Under-19 played at the Gandhi ground in Amritsar on Wednesday.

Brilliant spell by left-arm spinner Amaninder (4/37) helped Patiala bundle out Amritsar at 157 in 79.5 overs in reply to Patiala’s target of 338 and record comprehensive win in the semi-final of Dhruv Pandove Trophy for Under-19 played at the Gandhi ground in Amritsar on Wednesday.

In reply to Patiala’s daunting total pf 338,Amritsar made meek surrender and were all out at 157,thus falling short of 170 runs. Patiala bowlers displayed tremendous performances to put Amritsar batsmen on back foot. Along with Amaninder (4/37),Sandeep (2/15) and Robin Dhillon (2/20) bowled well to scalp crucial wickets. From Amritsar side,Jagdeep Singh (27),Aman Bawa (23) and Sunny Sandhu (23) were the main scorers. With this win,Patiala has entered the final of the championship to be played at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Meanwhile,on the first day of the other semi-final match played at Burlton Park in Jalandhar,Chandigarh posted a good total 314 runs in 89.5 overs while batting first. Gauravpurin (69),Jaskaran Singh (56) and Gurinder Singh (56) palyed useful knocks for Chandigarh. Fivers from Yogesh Kumar (5/102) and Gurkeerat Singh (5/105) put breaks on Chandigarh’s run-flow,otherwise few more runs could have been added to the team total. The bowling duo bowled in tandem to claim last five wickets in 10 overs giving away just 41 runs. At the end of the first day’s play,Jalandhar had scored 4 runs without any loss in 3 overs.
