Political parties in the city criticised the decision of the CBI to make local MP Pawan Bansal a prosecution witness in the rail bribery scam. President of the city unit of the party Sanjay Tandon said that it seems that the CBI is making attempts to save Bansal and misleading the people. Tandon said that the CBI,under pressure from the Congress was making attempts to ensure that Bansal appears clean in the case. He alleged that the case revolves around Bansal,yet his role is not being investigated. Chandigarh unit of Janata Dal United,Friday criticized the CBI action of giving a clean chit to local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal in rail bribery scam. They demanded that instead,his interrogation by Special Investigation Team to investigate the total episode of the bribe scandal should be done. Surinder Bhardwaj,president of JD (U) said that this seems like the CBI is working under the pressure of the Congress by making Bansal a prosecution witness. He said that this would simply put an end to the case.
