Panchkula police issue traffic advisory as heavy rain damages bridges, causes waterlogging in several areas
The bridge on the river between Alipur and Khatauli village has been damaged, while another bridge on the Mauli–Barwala road has collapsed, bringing vehicular movement to a halt, the Panchkula traffic police said.

Heavy rain over the past few days has led to severe traffic disruption across Haryana’s Panchkula district, with damaged bridges and extensive waterlogging forcing the diversion of vehicles on several routes and prompting the Panchkula Traffic Police to issue an advisory.
Manpreet Singh Sudan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Panchkula (Traffic), has appealed to motorists to remain cautious, follow only the advised routes, and avoid travelling through areas where traffic has been completely closed. “Given the weather conditions, we urge residents to drive carefully and check route conditions before starting their journey,” he said.
According to the traffic police, the bridge on the river between Alipur and Khatauli village has been damaged, while the bridge on the Mauli–Barwala road has collapsed, bringing vehicular movement to a halt. Commuters heading towards Khatauli have been advised to take the Mauli–Raipur Rani route or travel via Mattawala road. For those who are travelling towards Barwala, the administration has suggested using the Derabassi road as an alternative.
Officers said that waterlogging under the railway bridge between Kohni Sahib Gurdwara and Sai Dairy has further disrupted vehicular movement. Similar conditions have been witnessed at Amratex traffic lights, Majri Chowk, and under the bridge from Industrial Area to Baltana, where both road damage and accumulated water have slowed down traffic movement.
In addition, potholes and ongoing construction have affected several other stretches, including Vikas Nagar Naka, from Barwala Bus Stand to Barwala Bypass, Sukhomajri Bypass to Nawan Nagar T-point, Mallah Mor (Pinjore) to Parwanoo border (Kalka), Mauli to Pyarewala road, and Mattawali to Trilokpur Mor.
For emergencies, the public may contact the Flood Control Room at 0172-2562135, Police Control Room at 7508324900, or dial 112, the DCP said.
