The last three months have seen a worrying trend of Pakistani teenagers straying into India. The stated reasons for entering Indian territory have varied from meeting Shahrukh Khan to escaping beating at home. On Monday, again,a 14-year-old was arrested by the Border Security Force after he allegedly crossed over the international border to the Indian side, official sources said.

The boy said that he was a resident of Chandpura district of Lahore in Pakistan and belonged to a poor family. The teenager’s interrogation was underway at the time of filing this report. BSF sources said he was scared after being caught.

“Esju Khan,14,is mentally sound but quite reluctant to answer the queries as he is still in a state of shock,” they said. He had left his house after a minor altercation with his parents and reached the Indo-Pakistan border, they said, adding that he then crossed over to this side of the border. The teenager may be repatriated in a couple of days, said senior BSF officials.
