One dead, two injured in Ludhiana wall collapse
A rescue operation was initiated by police with the help of locals. Three men were pulled out from the debris and rushed to hospitals but one of them was declared brought dead.

One person died and two others suffered injuries after a wall collapsed on Saturday night following heavy rain and storm in Kanganwal area of Sahnewal of Ludhiana.

The victim was identified as Sant Lal Das of Vijay Nagar Colony. Hailing from Bihar, he worked as a supervisor in a factory in Ludhiana. The injured were identified as Abbu Sehna and Keshi Ram and their condition is stated to be stable.
Sushil Kumar, one of the eyewitnesses said that the wall was more than 10-feet high already in dilapidated state.
Inspector Inderjit Singh Boparai, SHO Sahnewal police station, said that they received the information around 8 pm and rushed to the spot immediately. The SHO added that a part of the compound wall of the plot collapsed on the road. There was an old factory here, but the owners had razed the building and left the compound wall.
Das was living here alone in a rented accommodation. His family is in Bihar. The police have informed the family about his death. The police will take appropriate action after recording the statement of the kin of the victim. The body has been sent to Civil hospital for the postmortem.
