NRI alleges rape by engineering student; cops on his trail

“During my course of studies,I came in touch with Gurinderpal Singh alias Jimmy,who lured me for marriage and under that pretext he developed physical relationship with me despite my repeated opposition,” she alleged.

The victim further alleged that when she complained to Jimmy’s parents,they also assured to marry her off to their son,and under that garb,she alleged,they took cash and ornaments from her family. She claimed that Jimmy’s parents also got her photographs clicked with Jimmy in order to make her believe that they will solemnise their marriage.

“When I became pregnant and conveyed the same to Jimmy,he and his family categorically refused to marry me,” alleged the NRI girl,who was around four-months pregnant. Confirming the incident,SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said he has asked Zirakpur SHO to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.

Zirakpur SHO Yogi Raj said a case of rape under Section 376 of the IPC has been lodged against Jimmy,who he revealed,was in his mid-20s,and perusing B.Tech from a private institute in Mullana near Ambala. Though Jimmy hailed from Ambala but presently he was putting up in Dheegemajra village near Dera Bassi,where the victim used to go for taking coaching classes,revealed the SHO,while adding that the accused was still on the run and raids were on to nab him.
