Sunday is not usually a busy day in the city but the packed auditorium proved otherwise as all roads led to Bhavan Vidyalaya in Sector 27,Chandigarh. The school was the venue for auditions organised by KK Movies and Media International that is currently on the lookout for talent for an upcoming film. Eager parents accompanied by equally excited children looking to showcase their acting skills arrived early in the day.
The Mumbai-based company is scouting for talent for its film, tentatively titled Twinkle – the Shining Stars. Also present on the occasion was Sandeep Singh Bawa, director of KK Movies and Media International. Though there are already accomplished child artistes from Bollywood that have been finalised for the film, there is scope for around ten more actors who will be selected through auditions, informed Bawa. With registrations having been announced only a few days ago,the final day saw 150 hopefuls from across various age groups showcase their talent. Not just Chandigarh,we have had children come in from Panchkula,Mohali and other parts of Punjab as well. The talent is abundant and its unfortunate that despite many Punjabi films being produced, not many give a chance to young actors, said Bawa. To make the selection,Bawa brought in a panel of judges comprising Tapesh Sharma,Secretary,Federation of Film Societies of India and Secretary,Chandigarh Film Society, playback singer and actor Teena Ghai and cinematographer-director Rajan Layallpuri.
