The Punjab and Haryana High Court has cleared decks for the much-awaited Punjab Civil Services (Executive Branch) examination. It will be held on its scheduled date,December 19. the court dismissed a petition that had demanded to postpone the date in view of another examination scheduled on the same day. A division bench comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Ajay Tewari made it clear that the fate of over 28,000 candidates, who are to appear for the examination, could not be jeopardised for one individual, the petitioner. During a hearing on December 8,the Punjab government, too, opposed the petition filed by one Bhushan Kumar,a resident of Punjab. He had contended that the date fixed for the examination was clashing with UGC Net Examination and as a result he would lose the opportunity to appear for that if he took the PCS (Executive Branch) and Combined Punjab State Civil Services Examination.
