Night food street closed down

Night Food Street,Sector 43,has been closed down. Having failed to provide food at cheap rates and in hygienic conditions,the Municipal Corporation (MC) has decided to close it down.

However,the MC will relaunch Night Food Street after a “brainstorming” exercise. This was conveyed to Punjab and Haryana High Court during the resumed hearing of a PIL arising out of a suo motu notice taken by the HC on a news item published in an English daily.

MC Commissioner Vivek Pratap Singh was present in Court on Friday. Appearing on behalf of the UT,Senior Standing Counsel Sanjay Kaushal said that Night Food Street had failed to achieve the desired effect.
