NGO organises cancer detection camp in city

A free cancer detection,mammography and screening camp was held at Sahatya Cancer Kendra,Sector 15 on Sunday.

A free cancer detection,mammography and screening camp was held at Sahatya Cancer Kendra,Sector 15 on Sunday. The camp is being organised by an NGO,Sahatya cancer Sahyog,in the memory of the founder of the NGO,Neelu Tuli,whose birth anniversary falls on June 21. The camp was inaugurated by Director Principal of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Sector 32,Dr Raj Bahadur. Experts said that the rate at which the people are being diagnosed with cancer needs to be controlled or it may take the shape of an epidemic in the next 10 to 15 years. They added that at the best way to keep cancer at bay is to go in for proper screening and early detection so that the problem can be addressed in the initial stages for the best possible treatment. The NGO will hold five such camps in different parts of the city. The next camp will be organised at Community Centre,Sector 8 on Monday.
