The Major General said this while addressing mediapersons at the Jalandhar NCC meet on Tuesday.

He said that if the NCC adopts a village, all children in that village will be motivated to get enrolled as NCC cadets and if they are good in any game, they will be provided all facilities to explore their talent at the national and International levels. The NCC plans to adopt more such villages in the future,he added.

Speaking about the achievements of Punjab NCC,Singh said that it has become the first in the country to open two academies — one each for girls and boys — in Malout and Ropar, respectively. In these, along with education, physical training, computer education, etc will also be provided to the cadets.

As many as 89 cadets from Punjab NCC have joined as officers in the defence forces last year — the highest number sent by any NCC directorate in the country, said Singh.
