Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri Thursday issued a stern warning to the state bureaucracy, stating that the officers “conspiring against the government” and “visiting the houses of BJP leaders” won’t be spared.
“Those officers who, despite a Congress government in the state, are visiting BJP leaders’ homes will be dealt with. I also want to tell (Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh) Sukhu ji that this cannot continue. Such officers must be handled firmly,” Agnihotri said while addressing a rally in Mandi to mark three years of the Congress government.
He said the officials involved in conspiracy and misinformation against the Congress government “will be dealt with in the dark of night” and cautioned the bureaucracy to “fall in line”.
Asking the officers to complete the bulk-drug project within two years, the Deputy CM said that “schemes cannot run at a turtle’s pace”. He said deserving officials should be given appropriate positions so that further planning can begin. “We should now focus on the works of party workers keeping in view the next Assembly elections,” he added.
In 2024, too, during the function to mark two years of Congress government, Agnihotri had warned the bureaucracy, especially pointing towards the then chief secretary Prabodh Saxena to keep tabs on such bureaucrats who conspired against the Congress government behind the closed doors.
Asserting that he is a “satisfied man”, the Deputy CM said if anyone tries to crush him, “they will be destroyed”.
Agnihotri accused BJP leaders of going to Delhi to block the Prime Minister’s announcement of Rs 1,500 crore for the state. He urged the CM to bring a strong law on the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) so that no future regime can scrap it.
The Deputy CM said HRTC employees received salaries and pensions for 36 months and that the government was fighting a decisive battle against drugs.
Newly appointed Himachal Congress president Vinay Kumar thanked the central leadership for giving him new responsibilities. He said that during the rain disaster, the Congress government had worked hard to respond to the crisis, but the MP who won from Mandi did not rise to the occasion.
