Mohali cab driver killed by JeM terrorists: Victim’s family say cops ignored complaints despite evidence from toll plazas
Anil went missing on August 29. The family lodged a complaint on August 30, but police delayed registering an FIR until August 31

The family members of the Nayagaon taxi driver, who was killed allegedly by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists alleged on Tuesday that the police only acted after they themselves provided CCTV footage showing the stolen vehicle at various toll plazas.
“Had the police acted in time, the case could have been solved earlier,” they said.
The taxi driver, Anil (32), who leaves behind a grieving wife and a five-year-old son, was found dead near Airport Road, Mohali. His father continues to serve at the nation’s border as a BSF jawan in Jammu.
The victim’s family claimed that their complaint was initially ignored. First reported at Kharar police station, it was later taken to Nayagaon police, where they were told an FIR could only be filed 24 hours after disappearance.“Police showed no seriousness until we gave them toll plaza footage,” a kin alleged.
Anil went missing on August 29. The family lodged a complaint on August 30, but police delayed registering an FIR until August 31, only after the incident was reported by The Indian Express.
According to police sources, initial interrogation revealed the terrorists did not plan to kill the driver. They booked the cab, and upon reaching a deserted stretch on Airport Road, stopped on the pretext of urination. When Anil refused to hand over the car keys, an argument broke out. The assailants revealed they were linked to a terror group and fired a shot, injuring him. Even after being warned to surrender his keys and phone, Anil resisted. The accused then fired multiple rounds, killing him, before dumping the body in a nearby forest and fleeing with the vehicle.
