Missing IT professional’s body found

Despite his body having been recovered on Saturday evening,the mystery over Naveen’s death still continues. The police are waiting for the post-mortem report.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime) Satbir Singh said,“We received a call from the local police of Tangori that four dead bodies were found floating in the canal. Clothes worn by one of the bodies matched what Naveen was wearing. A description of clothes was given on the posters which Naveen’s family had put up.”

About 4 pm on Saturday,the UT Police received a call about the bodies. “A team from the crime branch was dispatched to identify the body. Naveen’s younger brother Praveen accompanied the team and identified one of the four bodies as his brother’s,” said the DSP.

The team reached the hospital concerned at 9 pm. Praveen identified the body from his clothes,shoes,an injury mark on the right hand and holy threads that Naveen was wearing as a part of wedding ceremonies. Around 4 am on Sunday,the body was shifted to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital,Sector 16.

Praveen said that one person had accompanied Naveen to the salon. “A sketch was made of the person who accompanied Naveen but we do not recognise him. The police are also looking for that person,” Praveen said.

“Prima facie,it looks like a suicide,but the facts can only be ascertained after the post-mortem report. The body is in a bad condition,so a panel of doctors will be carrying out the post-mortem tomorrow,” said Inspector Ranjodh Singh,Crime Branch.

Naveen had left his residence on May 10 to visit a salon as he was to get married on May 12. But when he did not return from the salon,his family and their neighbours approached the police.

Family of the deceased suspect some people whom Naveen had fired a few months back. These people had allegedly leaked certain information from the firm. Reportedly,the police had detained the suspects,questioned them but let them go.
