The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has demanded the resignation of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government for its failure in preventing the Mirchpur incident. The party said Hooda has no moral or democratic right to stay in power after the incident in which houses of Dalits were torched resulting in the death of a disabled girl and her father. The party said the incident was a blot on the government and was enough to prove that there was “jungle raj” in the state.

Addressing mediapersons on Saturday,INLD general secretary and Dabwali MLA Ajay Singh Chautala said the government has failed on all fronts, especially law and order, power and water. He said the government should take strict action against those responsible for the incident and the affected families should be adequately compensated. Meanwhile, chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes,Buta Singh,on Saturday visited the Mirchpur village where two Dalits were burnt alive in a caste clash that took place early this week.
