Man involved in rape, murder of 8-year-old Chandigarh girl nabbed from Bihar

The body of the girl was recovered from a garbage pile three days later.

According to the police, the man who is a native of Ayodhya took a train to Bihar on January 20..

“His room was found locked when a search operation was launched following the complaint of the victim’s parents. The slippers of victim were found in the room of the accused when the police forcefully entered after breaking the locks,” said an officer.

The postmortem examination of the victim had confirmed that the victim was subjected of sexual assault.

The police said that the accused, who is found to have married twice, has recently shifted to the densely populated area in Chandigarh where the victim and her family were residing.

“He was also found involved in two theft cases of the railway properties in UP and Kolkata. The accused confessed to his involvement in the crime. The sharp-edged weapon used for killing the victim and the clothes worn by him at the time of crime are yet to recovered,” the officer said.

Sources said the accused had been staying in Kolkata for a long time.

A local court remanded him in five-day police custody.

The police have registered a case under Section 363 (abduction), 302 (murder), and 376(3) (rape of minor) of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO was registered.
