A Nepalese man allegedly murdered his friend following a spat over Rs 50 in Dhilwan village in Samrala of Ludhiana district. The Khanna police said both were drunk when the accused, identified as Inerjit Mukhia of Bara district in Nepal, thrashed the victim, identified as Shiv Nath of Bihar. DSP (Samrala) Waryam Singh said that both the accused and the victim were residing here in the tubewell room of farmer Harlabh Singh in village Dhilwan. During night hours, Inerjit brought a liquor bottle and when the two were consuming alcohol, Inerjit asked Shiv Nath to give Rs 50 if he wanted to consume more. The two entered into a spat and Inerjit picked a wooden stick from the fields and started thrashing Shiv Nath. As both were in an inebriated condition, Inerjit didn’t realise that he had killed Shiv Nath and he slept over there. In the morning when he woke up and found Shiv Nath lying dead, he fled the spot. However, some villagers noticed the body and alerted the police. A case under section 302 of IPC has been registered against the accused at Samrala police station.
