Man held for possession of banned substance

The Mohali Police,on Wednesday,arrested a person in Derabassi for possession of around 40.5 kilograms of poppy. The accused,identified as Jeet Singh,50,from Karkaur village in Derabassi,has been booked for possession and supply of illegal drugs under sections 15,61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act.

Acting on a tip-off,the CIA staff along with the Derabassi police nabbed Singh,while he was selling poppy straw near village Sheikhupura.

According to police,Singh has allegedly been supplying poppy straw since 20 years.
