The members of a family of Mauli Jagran alleged that a lizard had been found in the mid-day meal served at the Anganwadi in the afternoon on Thursday.

They alleged that a dead lizard was found in the kadi chawal that was served to the tiny tots. General Secretary JDU,Manoj Sharma said that while eating the meal one of the students,Barjesh Kumar Gupta, found a lizard in his meal. Later he complained of nausea. He was taken to the local doctor for a check-up and now the boy is stable. None of the other students complained of any symptoms after eating the food.

The people of the area also visited the police post to register a complaint. Talking to Newsline, police post in-charge sub inspector SI Ranjit Singh said,“Some of the residents came here to register the complaint. We still verifying the complaint.”

According to police, the student took the meal to his home in a utensil and after half an hour when he was about to eat,he found a lizard. “Now,we have asked the Food and Supplies Department to take the sample and after their verification,we will see whether the lizard was there before he took the meal at home or was already there,” said SI.
