Fatehgarh Sahib District and Sessions Judge, Kuldip Singh, was on Thursday administered oath as Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court by Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul.
In a first, the oath-taking ceremony was telecast live on screens across the High Court with many lawyers and litigants high court watching the ceremony being conducted in the newly constructed auditorium.
Justice Kuldip Singh swore to “bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established”. He also swore to “uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India” and “duly and faithfully and to the best of ability, knowledge and judgment, perform the duties of the office without fear or favour, affection and ill will”.
Last month, Justice Arun Palli and Justice H S Sidhu were administered oath as Additional Judges of the high court. At present, there are 48 judges in the high court as against the sanctioned strength of 68.
