Kataria hails Guru Tegh Bahadur’s supreme sacrifice, receives ‘Dharm Rakhiak Yatra’

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria paid glowing tributes to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, describing his martyrdom as “an unparalleled sacrifice in the defence of faith and human rights”.

Speaking after receiving the ‘Dharm Rakhiak Yatra’ at Rayat Bahra University on Thursday, the Governor said Guru Tegh Bahadur’s selfless act to protect the Kashmiri Pandits’ right to religion continues to inspire humanity across centuries.

He noted that commemorative events marking the martyrdom anniversary of Guru are being held not only in Punjab but throughout India, celebrating his message of courage, tolerance, and spiritual freedom.

Governor Kataria also felicitated Harmeet Singh Kalka, pPresident of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), along with other dignitaries accompanying the yatra. Extending his wishes to the devotees, he commended their devotion and participation.

A special langar was organised at Rayat Bahra University for the devotees by the Joint Association of Colleges, Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA), and the Federation of Private Schools, Punjab. University Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra said it was an honour to serve the devotees on such a sacred occasion.

Prominent attendees included Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, Dr Anshu Kataria, and Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal. The Dharm Rakhiak Yatra, dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur and his companions, began from Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal, Sri Anandpur Sahib, spreading Guru’s timeless message of faith, truth, and human dignity.
