Jagir Kaur challenges conviction,moves HC

Former cabinet minister Bibi Jagir Kaur has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court challenging her conviction in the forcible abortion,kidnapping and murder case of her daughter Harpreet Kaur.

Former cabinet minister Bibi Jagir Kaur has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court challenging her conviction in the forcible abortion,kidnapping and murder case of her daughter Harpreet Kaur. Her appeal is likely to come up for hearing next week.

On Wednesday,Kaur has submitted in her appeal that the approver in the case cannot be relied upon and that the second half of the judgment rendered by the Patiala court contradicts its first half.

Harpreet Kaur,who had died under mysterious circumstances in April 2000,was cremated the very next day without a postmortem being conducted. A week later,Harpreet’s husband Kamaljit Singh petitioned the Punjab and Haryana High Court alleging that his wife had been had been murdered at Kaur’s behest.
