Perhaps for the first time, the PGI Administration after having failed to negotiate with the resident doctors, who were determined to go on protest since Monday despite the PGI authorities going soft on them, condemned the action of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARDs) to proceed on mass casual leave (CL),disrupting hospital services and denting the image of PGI.

A press statement issued by the authorities stated,“Despite the fact that the administration had taken immediate action, the resident doctors have gone on mass casual leave affecting patient care services.

The resident doctors had been requested to join work immediately. The strike is illegal and disciplinary action will be initiated against those who have violated the conduct rules. The action of the resident doctors is unwarranted and without any basis.”
