In Sirsa district,man strangles mother over property dispute

A 53-year-old woman was allegedly strangled by her son and daughter-in-law over to a land dispute in Sirsa district’s Dundiali village.

A 53-YEAR-OLD woman was allegedly strangled by her son and daughter-in-law over to a land dispute in Sirsa district’s Dundiali village on Wednesday morning. The accused,Mahabir and his wife Rajbala,have been arrested.

The incident came to light,when the body of the deceased,Kamla,was discovered in the backyard of her house. Her husband,Indraj — who has lodged a complainant against his son and daughter-in-law — returned home from the fields and spotted Kamla’s body.

According to the police,there was an ongoing dispute over the partition of the land owned by the family,which has been rented out. “There was a family dispute between Indraj’s sons — Mahabir and Madan — over partition of some family land. According to Indraj,Mahabir and his wife Rajbala had been demanding the major share in the land. While Indraj went to his fields in the morning,Mahabir and his wife allegedly strangulated Kamla to death. We have arrested both of them and are investigating the matter,” said Inspector Hira Lal.

Indraj and his sons used to work in the fields owned by them in the Dundiala village. While Madan used to stay with his parents,Mahabir and his wife used to stay nearby.

According to the police,Mahabir and Rajbala came to Kamla’s residence in the morning and had an argument with her. Following this,they strangled her with her dupatta and then dumped her body in the backyard. Both have been booked for murder.
