Cricket tourney from May 8
Satluj Public School,Sector 4 will organise Sixth Hot Weather Cup U-15 Cricket Tournament from May 8 at the school’s premises. The last date for entry is May 5 and players born on or after September 1,1995 are eligible to take part in the tournament. Only six teams can participate in the super-league tournament and players can contact Sarpreet Gill,cricket coach,on 9878665646. The teams can register till May 5 and the tournament will be played on the basis of super-league.Only six teams can take part in the super league and the players should be born on or after September 1995, said an official while commenting upon the issue of the number of teams.
Hockey meet from today
Air Force Hockey Championship will be organised by 3 BRD AF from May 3 to May 9 at the Sector 42 Hockey stadium. A total of seven Command teams are participating in the event,which is divided into two pools. Western Air Command,Eastern Air Command and Maintenance Command are in Pool A,while South Western Air Command,Training Command,Central Air Command and Air Head Quarters are in Pool B. The opening match will be played between Maintenance Command and Eastern Air Command. Matches will be played on league cum knock out basis. The aim of the championship is to select Air Force hockey team for forthcoming Inter-Service Hockey Championship.
Sports gradation trials on May 7
The Chandigarh Sports Department will hold the second sports gradation trials/interviews on May 7 at 10 am at the Sector 42 Sports Complex. Sportspersons seeking sports gradation certificate must submit their complete form with the Sports Department before May 4. Sports gradation certificates will be issued to the eligible sportspersons in aquatics,archery,athletics,badminton,baseball,basketball,boxing (men),canoeing,equestrian,fencing,football,gymnastics,handball,hockey,judo,rowing,sailing,shooting,table tennis,taekwondo,tennis,triathlon,volleyball,weightlifting,wrestling (men) and cricket. As many as 200 sportspersons were issued gradation certificates earlier this month.
