A resillient unbeaten knock of 24 runs from Dolly helped I.S.Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School,Sector 21,Chandigarh,record seven-wicket win over Cricket Club Sector 22,Chandigarh in the opening match of the Sub-Junior State Womens Cricket Championship (Under-16) for Kailash Bahl Trophy being organised by Chandigarh Women’s Cricket Association played at I.S.Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School,Sector 21,Chandigarh.
Batting first,Cricket Club,Sector 22,batswoman posted a total of 89 runs losing four wickets in 12 overs. Neha emerged as the topscorer making 23 runs. From the bowling side,Saloni bowled a tight spell and also grabbed two wickets. Hot and humid conditions made life difficult for the players as they struggled to find form. Apart from Neha,Diksha chipped in with 11 runs to boost the Cricket Club total. Inexperience was quite inevitable on Cricket Club’s part as they struggled to score fluently while batting first. In reply to the total,I.S.Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School XI achieved the target in 10.5 overs losing three wickets. The Cricket Club bowlers Kajol (2 for 20) and Ranjana (1 for 27) troubled the winning team,but failed to bundle them out within the target. Dolly played superbly scoring unbeaten knock of 24 runs. She made sure that her team won the game and remained not out along with Pushpa who was unbeaten on 9. In the next match of the tournament,LIC Club,Sector 26 will take on Sacred Heart School,Sector 26,on Thursday at the same venue.
