In response to the comment by Prof G K Chadha,CEO,South Asian University,on the poor state of education in Haryana with context to increasing number of private universities in the state which he compared with the claim by the state government of 100 per cent villages been electrified while the ground reality is mere presence of one electric pole in each village,Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia expressed his helplessness. He said since the time he assumed the charge,he has been reduced to a mere rubber stamp or a signing machine as he can only recommend or approve decisions but cannot have a say.

He says while he was in Bihar,he had more freedom than what he has now. As a chancellor of numerous universities of Haryana,he can only think and not speak. He further added that today everything including education is politicised. For instance,on Sunday I would be awarding teachers but I know that out of all, many would non-deserving. The state of education has reduced to such a level that candidates with master’s and PhD degrees apply for the post of a peon. In recommending uniformity in the education system all over the country,he referred to the dismal state of affairs in the state-level educational institutions where vacant teaching positions, lack of infrastructure, commercialisation of education, lack of vocational education were some of the lacunae. He also said that private educational institutions need to have a long-term perspective and have to follow the established parameters.
