On May 15,the party in-charge of HP will meet Shimla leaders for the first time For the first time after the formation of the new Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC),Congress leaders are getting ready to come face to face with top AICC functionaries,veterans and most significantly,partys new in-charge Birender Singh a Haryana Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member. Party unit president Kaul Singh Thakur has also invited Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma to attend the General House meet on May 15,when AICC general secretary Birender Singh,for the first time,will meet leaders in Shimla. Chaudhry Birender Singh had participated in a brief meeting of the party at Parwanoo sometime ago. But this meeting is important with the Congress now gearing up for the Assembly polls in 2012, said Thakur. Union Minister Virbhadra Singh,CLP leader Vidya Stokes,former PCC chiefs like Sat Mahajan,Viplove Thakur,MLAs,AICC delegates and newly-elected PCC members will attend the meeting. Thakur claimed that there is no fixed agenda for the meet. We are working together with the AICC to draw-up a strategy which makes it easier for the party to defeat the BJP in the 2012 polls. There are so many issues like land deals,corruption,mal-administration,misutilisation and non-utilisation of the Central funds, he added. The meeting is also important from another aspect Birender Singh will introduce himself to the PCC and receive feedback. The people are looking for a change, said Asha Kumari,a PCC leader. Asked about Anand Sharmas presence,Kumari said that the PCC president wanted him to attend the meet. The minister has assured that he will attend the meeting. Sharma being a busy minister,who is currently abroad,is expected to be back in Delhi on May 13. We are pinning hopes on his arrival, she added.
