HP Congress chief to be decided before panchayat polls: Rajni Patil

‘Have conveyed our choice; high command to take final call’

Himachal Pradesh Congress incharge and Rajya Sabha MP Rajni Patil Saturday said that the state unit of the party will get a new president before the panchayat elections.

Patil, who reached Shimla two days before the scheduled programme of the unveiling of the statue of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, said, “We have conveyed the choice of local Congress workers and supporters to the party high command. The final call will be taken by the high command”.

Patil visited the official residence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu where PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, incumbent party chief Pratibha Singh, Shimla Mayor Surinder Chauhan and other leaders were also present. Later, she went to Theog constituency where a political programme was organised by the Theog Congress MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore, who is also All India Congress Committee spokesperson.

The statue of the six time former CM Virbhadra Singh will be unveiled at the Ridge on October 13.

As per the invitation card distributed by his son Vikramaditya, who is also the chairman of the Raja Virbhadra Singh Foundation, along with his mother Pratibha, senior party leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will be present in the function apart from Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, and MP Rajni Patil.
