Already facing serious criticism for indiscriminately sanctioning private universities,with a few of them having no credible academic track record,the Himachal Pradesh government has given its go-ahead to set up another university Maharishi Markendeshwar University in the private sector.
The state Cabinet that met on Wednesday approved a Bill related to the setting up of the university,the eighth one in the private sector,besides ten more proposals in the pipeline.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal presided over the meeting.
Taking the e-governance facility to the masses,the government also decided to create common service centres through 3,366 Lok Mitra Kendras in the state. To be established by the Department of Information Technology,the facility will be open to public for registering their grievances under e-Samadhan portal by paying Rs 4 at the Lok Mitra Kendras.
It approved enhancement in the honorarium of members of the HP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and district redressal forums from Rs 600 to Rs 1,000 and from Rs 500 to Rs 750,respectively,with effect from June 1,2010.
It approved creation and filling up of three posts of different categories in the science,technology and environment councils,granted permission to fill up nine posts of different categories and create and fill up six posts in the HP State Environment Pollution Control Board.
It also decided to revive the post of principal private secretary in the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat to generate additional avenue of promotion to the feeder cadre.
It approved expansion in the field operations for the post of secretary to the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
