City-based designer duo Sukhwant and Astha,whose collection garnered much acclaim at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai this March,suggest that it is important to find outfits that flatter one’s body type. “Light cotton fabrics are ideal for the season. Go for ones with interesting weaves like ikats or prints like checks to keep the look interesting. Opt for colours like blue that go well with the season,” says Aastha. She also recommends comfortable clothing like tees teamed with loose-fitted trousers or kurtas with embroidery with denims.

At Meena Bazaar,NAC,Manimajra,there is a special section devoted to holiday wear. It comprises shorts,tees and Jamaican shirts in vibrant colours for men and skirts,mini shorts,tops with different silhouettes and dresses for women. There is also a range of handy accessories that include colourful hats and caps. “We have specially created a corner to make available everything that you might need for a vacation,” says Rajnish Jain,owner.

At the United Colours of Benetton,Sector 8,Panchkula,the demand for day dresses and tube tops,low waist capris and light coloured denims are high during this season. “For a vacation people look for clothes that are simple,comfortable yet chic,with a touch of bohemian,” says Gagan,owner of the outlet.

Surinder Kumar,manager,Koutons,Sector-17 Chandigarh,says their holiday wear is particularly relaxed with a high emphasis on comfort. “We try to get hip hop styles in cotton pants and tops. Many customers do not prefer dresses,so we have a wide variety of halter necks and spaghetti tops that can be teamed with different things,” he says.

Madame,in Sector-8,Panchkula,too has a wide variety of styles on offer. “Besides making our designs funky,we also believe in coming up with unusual colour combinations. There is a lot to choose from our range of printed kurtis,capris,leggings and designer tops,” says manager Sunil Chand.
