The first flight from Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Haryana’s Hisar is likely to take off for Ayodhya on April 14. Earlier, it was announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the airport’s operations on the day, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.
According to state government officials, Alliance Air will operate flights from the airport starting April 14. “The first flight, a 72-seater aircraft, is likely to take off from Hisar airport for Ayodhya at 10.40 am. It shall be a two-hour flight,” a senior official said.
“According to the preliminary flight schedule, the flight will take off from New Delhi at 9.30 am and reach Hisar at 10.15 am. The same aircraft will take off for Ayodhya at 10.40 am and reach Ayodhya at 12.40 pm. The return flight will take off from Ayodhya at 1.05 pm and land in Hisar at 3.05 pm, take off from Hisar at 3.35 pm and land in New Delhi at 4.15 pm,” the officer added.
The Haryana government also plans to operate flights to Jaipur, Jammu, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh from Hisar airport. Since there is no night-landing facility at the airport, the flights will operate till 6 pm.
Officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Union government, Prime Minister’s Office and from the state government are holding multiple rounds of meetings ahead of PM Modi’s arrival in Haryana for the inauguration. The airport’s inspection has also been carried out. Last week, a trial flight was conducted successfully at the airport.
