Himachal BJP acts against loose cannon Sushant

Finally picking up strength to tame its defiant MP Dr Rajan Sushant,BJP state president Khimi Ram ordered his removal from the party's executive committee.

Finally picking up strength to tame its defiant MP Dr Rajan Sushant,BJP state president Khimi Ram today ordered his removal from the party’s executive committee but left it all up to the BJP high command to take a decision on his expulsion from the party.

Sushant,a former minister, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kangra – one of state’s four Parliamentary seats, but has launched an open tirade on the issue of corruption, holding rallies in the state and even taking on the BJP government.

Says Khimi Ram,“This is one of the toughest actions ever taken by the party against a sitting MP. We used the powers to keep him out of the state executive, which is a supreme body of the party. I will not say anything more as to what the party High Command should do against Sushant”.

Only last week, senior BJP leader LK Advani was in Dharamshala, where he met top party leaders and listened to them on the party affairs. Sushant stayed away and did not meet Advani,he even absented himself from a dinner hosted for the MLAs and party leaders by Anurag Thakur,MP and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association chief.

Sources said the leaders strongly lobbied for action against Sushant as much of attention he was getting was because of his position as sitting MP. It’s only the Parliamentary party that can act against a member once he is elected to the House. “Our jurisdiction is limited and whatever was within our powers in the state we have done,” Khimi Ram said.

During the past two decades,Sushant has made history by going out of the party and then returning.
