The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted bail to Mohali realtor Jarnail Singh Bajwa in a cheating case, with a unique condition that he must plant 10 saplings of indigenous plants in a public place. The directions were issued by Chief Justice Sheel Nagu while hearing Bajwa’s bail plea in connection with FIR No. 87, dated August 22, 2024, registered under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the IPC at NRI police station, Mohali. The Court noted that Bajwa has been in custody since September 10, 2024, and the alleged offences are triable by a Magistrate. However, considering the multiple similar cases registered against him, the Court granted bail under stringent conditions. Bajwa has been directed to furnish bail bonds of Rs 2 lakh with two sureties of the same amount to the satisfaction of the Duty Magistrate. Additionally, he must plant 10 saplings within 15 days and submit photographic proof to the trial court. Failure to comply or submission of incorrect proof could lead to the cancellation of his bail.
