Haryana to give water pumps to panchayats at subsidised rates
In a bid to cut down on the use of non-renewable fuels,the Haryana government has decided to provide water pumps at subsidised rates for irrigation and drinking purposes in the state not only to farmers,but to dairy owners,institutions,panchayats and local bodies.

Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Ashima Brar said on Tuesday that the Department of Renewable Energy,Haryana,and Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) had launched a scheme to provide solar water pumps to cut down the use of renewable energy.
Solar water pumps of 2 HP and 4.6 HP capacity that will be used for irrigation and drinking purpose will be provided at subsidised rates, Brar said. She added that the 2HP surface solar pump that costs Rs 2.9 lakh will be provided to the consumers for Rs 1.16 lakh.
The 4.6 HP submersible that costs Rs 7.15 lakh will be provided for Rs 2.86 lakh and it will work up to 30-metre total head. There is no running cost on these systems, she added.
Brar also said that the allotment of SPV pump sets will be done on first-come-first-serve basis by the directorate of renewable energy.
The Deputy Commissioner has asked the farmers and other organisations of the district to come forward to adopt eco-friendly solar pumps to save electricity and fossil fuels.
