Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Wednesday said the state government will prepare a new ‘Master Development Plan’ for the Faridabad-Palwal area adjoining Yamuna. He made the announcement while chairing a meeting of the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA).

Khattar said, “The Jewar airport (in Uttar Pradesh) has opened up new possibilities for development in Faridabad and Palwal districts. For the planned development of Faridabad, and Palwal districts of Haryana adjoining Jewar, a new masterplan will be prepared by declaring the Yamuna area as a controlled area.”

In the meeting, a total budget of Rs 878.23 crore was approved for the year 2023-24 for the development of Faridabad city. The FMDA approved key projects designed to improve infrastructure, enhance citizen services, and contribute to a better environment in view of the projected population growth in the city.

The ‘development agenda’ was presented by FMDA Chief Executive Officer A Sreenivas and approved by the chief minister.

“With a futuristic outlook and vision for Faridabad, the FMDA has developed a strong development plan keeping in mind the projected population growth in the city till 2031. Some major development plans were presented in the Authority meeting today to support the expansion and development of Faridabad in the next few years. Several major proposed projects have been approved and further scope of work will be implemented in a time-bound manner,” Khattar said.

“As per Faridabad Development Plan-2031, the master plan has been prepared by the FMDA for the supply of bulk drinking water to the present and potential population of the entire Faridabad city. Presently, water availability in Faridabad is 330 MLD, and construction of 12 new Ranney Wells is underway by the FMDA which will take the supply capacity to 450 MLD. Administrative approval for the installation of five Ranney Wells in the revenue estate of village Basantpur to supplement water supply in Badkhal and NIT constituencies at a projected cost of Rs 294.15 crore has been approved.

“Additionally, a proposal to increase the water supply from 450 MLD to 700 MLD for the year 2031 by construction of an additional 22 Ranney Wells, 70 tube wells, and boosting stations was presented in the meeting of the Authority. After completion of the project by the year 2028-2029, Faridabad will have a total of 56 wells and 220 tube wells, which will help in providing about 700 MLD water to the estimated population of 39.55 lakh. The project costing Rs 3,000 crore has also been approved,” Khattar added.

The CM also approved the construction of a 20-km-long four-lane road along the Agra Canal. The road will improve access to Delhi, Noida, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Yamuna Expressway as well as Faridabad-Jewar Airport Road.

Moreover, 1,009 cameras are to be installed at various places in Faridabad to enhance security. These include 566 CCTV cameras, 48-speed cameras, 100 body wearable cameras, 260 Automatic Number-Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, and 25 Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) cameras.

Union Minister of State for Energy and Heavy Industries Krishna Pal Gurjar, Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma, and Urban Local Bodies Minister Dr Kamal Gupta were also present at the meeting.
