Riding high on Gurpreet’s superb hat-trick,BPCL entered the finals after registering a narrow 7-5 win over IOC via penalty shoot-out in the 39th SN Vohra’s All India Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament held at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium on Saturday. Didar Singh brought the first cheers for IOC when he netted goal in the 12th minute of the match. Arjun Antil doubled the lead in the 28th minute. However,Gurpreet scored one of his three goals in the 30th minute to put things back into track for BPCL. Kamlesh,however,scored from a penalty corner to increase the lee-way for IOC in the 39th minute. Gurpreet then score two quick goals in the span of two minutes to make the score 3-3. With the match locked at 3-3,the fate of the match was then decided by penalty shootout. Meanwhile,in the second semi-final match,Army XI thrashed ONGC 3-0 in a low-scoring match.
