Gold chain snatching outside Mohali home caught on CCTV; police launch probe

Complainant Abhishek Chhibber, a resident of Sector 66, told police that he was standing outside his home a few days ago when an unidentified man approached from behind and snatched the gold chain from his neck. “I tried to chase him, but the snatcher quickly jumped onto a bike being driven by his accomplice and fled the scene,” Abhishek said.
He immediately informed the Police Control Room, following which a complaint was registered at the Phase-11 police station. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to Abhishek, the entire snatching incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed outside a neighbour’s house. “The footage clearly shows me standing outside and talking to my neighbour when a man suddenly appears from behind and snatches my gold chain,” he said.
He added that he has handed over the CCTV footage to the police as evidence. However, no breakthrough has been made so far, and the accused remain unidentified.
Police officials said they are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the culprits.
