Principal Alka Mehta and staff members Narendra Shastri,Neelam Thakur,Sheo Ram and Surinder Kaur have now been posted under the District Education Officer.

In view of the financial anomalies found in the school records,Home Secretary Ram Niwas has directed the Director Public Instructions (Schools) to conduct an audit of the funds received and expenses incurred by all government schools within a month.

He has also been ordered to ensure that school heads maintain proper bills and vouchers of the money received from the government as well as students.

Schools have also been asked not to charge any “unauthorised fee” from students other than what has been prescribed by the Education department. The parent-teacher associations have also been asked to bring the matter to the notice of the Administration if any such demand is made.

Private schools have also invited the ire of the Administration with the Home Secretary directing them to not charge exorbitant fee and other dues from students in the name of books, admission forms, uniforms and stationery without the approval of the PTA,which is mandatory for enhancement of fees.

Niwas said he had received complaints about certain private schools charging hefty amounts for admission forms, some even as high as Rs 500.

Calling it “extortion”,he instructed schools to curb such unethical practices and take PTAs into confidence while finalising dues and revising the fee structure.

Niwas also warned schools of strict action, including withdrawal of recognition and initiation of legal action,if schools are found violating the rules.
