GMCH-32 to train city policemen about trauma care

UT police personnel will be soon be trained in pre-hospital care for trauma cases by the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,as part of the ongoing WHO project ‘Road Safety 10’.

UT police personnel will be soon be trained in pre-hospital care for trauma cases by the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,as part of the ongoing WHO project ‘Road Safety 10’. Under this program,a series of workshops and training for UT police personnel and responsible volunteers of Chandigarh will be conducted by the doctors of Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,.

The first workshop and training in the series will be conducted at GoverNMent. Medical College & Hospital skill lab at the Department of Anaesthesia and intensive care,will be held on March 15. Last year,similar workshops and training program were conducted for doctors and paramedics of Punjab at various trauma centres in the state.

These workshops will be conducted every month throughout the year and will strengthen the knowledge and skills of Chandigarh Police and various responsible volunteers from residents of society as these work as ‘first responders’ for pre-hospital trauma care.

The workshop will comprise of didactic lectures and ‘hands On’ practical scenario,simulated training on mannequins and simulators.

The training will be imparted by professor Raj Bahadur,director principal of GMCH-32 and comprehensive Emergency Life Support team that includes Dr Manpreet Singh (course co-ordinator),Dr Lakesh Kr Anand,Dr Dheeraj Kapoor (department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care),professor Rajeev Sharma (department of Surgery) and Dr Rohit Jindal,(department Orthopaedics).

Will also hold workshops on classification of diseases

Government Medical College Hospital,Sector 32,in collaboration with Regional office for Health & Family Welfare,Chandigarh and Central Bureau of Health Intelligence (CBHI),Directorate General of Health Services,Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,is organising two workshops on “ICD-10 coding” on March 15-16 for orientation of faculty ,resident doctors and concerned staff dealing with medical records on importance and use of ICD 10 coding. The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and related Health problems,10th version (ICD-10) is the international standard prescribed by the World Health Organisation. All member countries need to adopt and implement this classification so that morbidity and mortality databases are comparable on local as well as global scale. The workshops will be attended by 250 participants including faculty,demonstrators & resident doctors of all departments and Interns ,nursing staff ,final year MBBS students ,medical record department staff & data entry operators. Dr P Saxena,Director Central Bureau of Health Intelligence (CBHI),Directorate General of Health Services,Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will formally inaugurate the workshops on March 16.
